READ: The Lee Rigby Murder

Terrorism took a new turn on the 22nd of May 2013 when two young men murdered a british soldier in broad daylight in a city with the highest number of surveillance cameras in the world, at a junction in Woolwich, near the Royal Artillery Barracks, southeast London, and waited for the police to show up.

25-year-old Drummer (Private) Lee Rigby, on his way back to the Barracks was knocked down by a car driven by 28-year-old Michael Olumide Adebolajo and 22-year-old Michael Oluwatobi Adebowale both British of Nigerian descent raised as Christians and recent Islam converts. The two assailants got out of the car, stabbed and hacked him with a knife and a cleaver, dragged his body to the road and while waiting for the police to arrive, they told passers-by that they had killed a British soldier to avenge the killing of Muslims by British Military. Unarmed police arrived the scene and set up a cordon, armed police arrived few minutes later, shot and injured both assailant as they charged towards them with a knife and a revolver.
From the incident, it is confirmed that it was a religious attack and I really want to commend Her Majesty’s Armed Police for not killing the assailants. At this point, their plan had taken a massive setback and they’d dance to the music for the rest of their lives and will go on to dance it in their afterlife (except they change their extremist views before they pass on). They even gave a speech while waiting for the police over the body of the dead soldier (is printed at the end of this post).
I believe they wanted to end up as martyrs and their deaths would incite a riot in UK by other members of their group, thank God the police didn’t kill them. I begin to wonder why is it that Nigerians are very prone to this extremist brain washing? First it was Abdulmutallab, now its these ones. I concluded that we Nigerians are susceptible to commit these crimes; kidnapping, fraud, armed robbery, assassination, we then recently added bombing and mass murdering to it. All it requires for us to commit any of these is a reason (in our case, either money or religion), and its being sought after by us all because of bad leadership. If we had a healthy economy where the poor Nigerian can eat well with just NGN50, we would have cut off the religious reason and downsized the money reason also. All I know is, although the human mind is complicated only happiness will save us all this complicated journey of deciding to pick a random person and murder the fellow.
Trial will commence on 18th November 2013, and hope they are sent to gaol for the rest of their lives. They’ve wasted their lives already especially the 22-year-old boy, and I pray they live long enough (at least 89). May the soul of Drummer (Private) Lee Rigby and those lost through the attacks of Religious Extremist rest in peace (R.I.P). Safe “The only reason we have killed this man today is because Muslims are dying daily by British soldiers. And this British soldier is one … By Allah, we swear by the almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone. So what if we want to live by the Sharia in Muslim lands? Why does that mean you must follow us and chase us and call us extremists and kill us? … when you drop a bomb do you think it hits one person? Or rather your bomb wipes out a whole family? … Through [many passages in the] Koran we must fight them as they fight us … I apologise that women had to witness this today but in our lands women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your governments, they don’t care about you. You think David Cameron is gonna get caught in the street when we start busting our guns? Do you think politicians are going to die? No, it’s going to be the average guy, like you and your children. So get rid of them. Tell them to bring our troops back … leave our lands and you will live in peace.”
